Absolutely love this homage to Calvin and Hobbes.
This was done by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo for Superman/Batman #75 a couple years ago. Gotta find me a copy now.

This piece was a whole bunch of experiments wrapped into one:
- I’ve never done sketches on colored paper before. We had some in the office, so I figured I’d try. I’m seeing great artists like Tom Hodges doing a lot of sketch commissions on colored paper, and I just love the look of it.
- I really, really need more experience drawing women, so this was a good excuse
- I just got a new white correction pen I wanted to try out
- I finally got my hands on a couple Zebra brush pens I was dying to try
All in all, I think it turned out okay. As usual, it wouldn’t scan right and I had to take a photo and touch it up. The paper is supposed to be green, though.

The villain Bane, from The Dark Knight Rises. Getting pretty excited to see this one. This might be the first of a week of Batman villain sketches.
